Infiniti QX80 2025: that’s it

We wouldn’t be surprised if you double-checked our article on the August 2023 Infiniti QX Monograph Concept. The vehicle you see here is pretty much identical, from the vertically oriented corner air vents and the lights flanking the large grille, to the black roof, and even the flush door handles. There is, however, a notable difference. It’s not a concept. This is Infiniti’s new three-row QX80 SUV. And there is a lot to discuss.

The anti-corner

We won’t spend much time on exterior styling. It’s essentially the Monograph concept in production form, stretching 17.5 feet from nose to tail with its big body mounted on an old-school frame. In fact, Infiniti makes a point of talking up the QX80’s very upright stature, calling it an “anti-corner profile” with a nearly flat hood as it extends forward.

As with the Monograph concept, an illuminated Infiniti logo sits in the double-arch grille. The large greenhouse is distinguished by its black trim and optional black roof, while the low, flush power door handles extend when the SUV is unlocked.

The bulky exterior translates to more space inside. Infiniti doesn’t have any specific numbers to share yet, other than 161.1 cubic feet of total passenger space. Compared to the outgoing model, we’re told there’s 18 percent more space behind the second-row seats and 54 percent behind the third. A two-row version is not offered.

We haven’t seen the interior of the Monograph concept, but now we wish we had. This is a very nice leather-covered cockpit with premium Autograph trim and semi-aniline quilted seats complemented by wood and aluminum trim. As you’d expect, the instrumentation is a digital affair with two 14.3-inch display screens merged together to create one widescreen taking up most of the dashboard. A third screen measuring 9.0 inches sits forward of the center console, tilted upward to serve as the base of operations for the QX80’s climate controls, heated/cooled seat functions, and drive modes .

The smaller screen uses haptic feedback when various functions are used, giving the driver at least some tactile sensations when doing things like turning up the heater. Infiniti doesn’t explain the system further or whether the feedback changes depending on what you touch. But it’s not an entirely button-free affair. The steering wheel offers touch controls, including the ability to change the driver’s display through a range of appearances. And gear selection is done through a set of buttons on the center console.

And the QX80 has no shortage of things to control. Of particular interest is an assortment of cameras offering all kinds of views both outdoors and indoors, including the so-called Front Wide View. It takes information from the camera and creates a 170-degree front view that displays on both screens, giving the driver the ability to see around parked cars according to Infiniti. There’s also an Invisible Hood View that offers a look directly in front of the QX80, and we mean RIGHT in front. This is useful for seeing obstacles near the front tires or how far you are from a parking curb.

A feature called Enhanced AroundView is essentially a modified 360-degree exterior camera that makes parking and difficult situations easier. On-board cameras show front passengers what’s happening in the back, and they’re also accessible via smartphone so you can take a look at any time. And because we live in a connected society that cannot function without social media, Infiniti offers a journal called Journey Diary. This will capture photos or videos from forward-facing or in-car cameras and upload them to your social media, for better or worse.

The technology train doesn’t stop at cameras. The QX80 literally keeps passengers cool with biometric cooling: infrared sensors in the headliner detect when someone is hot and automatically adjust individual climate settings. Heated and cooled seats also help on this front, and in the new QX80 you’ll find heated seats all the way back in the third row. Massaging seats are available for second-row passengers, and everyone can enjoy a 24-speaker, 1,200-watt Klipsch audio system. It’s optional on all trims except the top-of-the-line Autograph, but the standard system is still a 14-speaker system putting out 600 watts.

Infiniti InTouch with Google Built-In runs the show. Wireless Apple CarPlay or Android Auto are standard, as are a host of Infiniti driver assistance and safety systems that come with ProPilot 1.1. Upgrade to ProPilot 2.1 and you’ll get hands-free driving in certain situations. There is also an optional head-up display for the first time.

More power, more speeds, more money

There’s plenty to keep the passengers busy, but what about the driver? Gone is the old 5.6-liter V8 engine, replaced by a twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6 making 450 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque. This is a notable increase over the V8, and it sends power to either the rear wheels or all four via a 9-speed automatic transmission. Infiniti claims the body-on-frame construction has 57 percent more lateral rigidity compared to the old model, and when equipped with air suspension, the QX80 lowers 1.2 inches at higher speeds. high for better efficiency. When parked, it can lower 2.8 inches to help people get in and out.

Five driving modes make the most of the QX80’s power: Standard, Eco, Sport, Snow and Tow. If none of these suit you, a sixth custom settings mode is included. Speaking of customization, you can change the interior lighting with 64 colors that shine through LED lights on the doors and dashboard. Nine exterior colors are available at launch and you can choose wheels up to 22 inches. If you need to tow, the QX80 is rated at 8,500 pounds.

At launch, the 2025 Infiniti QX80 is available in four trims: Pure, Luxury, Sensory and Autograph. Here’s a price breakdown by trim, including the mandatory $1,995 destination charge.

Model Price
Infiniti QX80 pure rear-wheel drive 2025 $84,445
Infiniti QX80 pure 4WD 2025 $87,545
Infiniti QX80 Luxury propulsion 2025 $91,545
Infiniti QX80 Luxury 4WD 2025 $94,645
Infiniti QX80 Sensory 4WD 2025 $102,640
Infiniti QX80 autograph 4WD 2025 $112,590

The new QX80 is certainly more expensive than the outgoing model, significantly more so in top-spec Autograph form. In comparison, the BMW X7 fits right into Infiniti’s price range. However, the Lexus LX600 still commands a bit more overall with prices topping $130,000.

Will buyers shell out more money than ever for this new Infiniti flagship? We’ll find out later this summer when the 2025 QX80 goes on sale.
