India’s Viga jostles with Sony and Amazon at Goa Festival film tech expo

A list of top international and Indian companies is featured in a film technology exhibit at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI), Goa.

Exhibitors include Sony, Canon, Hansa, Technicolor, Shashi, Prasad, Fujifilm, TechnoCine, Zeiss, Cineom, Tinu, Aputure, SRSG, Eizo, 360VFRX and Silence Acoustics. Additionally, Amazon Prime Video has a section in the exhibit dedicated to showcasing the effects featured in their movie “Ram Setu,” starring Akshay Kumar.

One of the highlights of the exhibition is the presence of virtual production specialists Viga Entertainment Technology which is unique in that all of its hardware and software is fully developed and manufactured in India. His projects include the Kannada-language blockbuster “Vikrant Rona”, the Disney+ Hotstar series “Shoorveer”, and AR Rahman’s short film “Nirvana”.

“This year’s IFFI recognizes the seismic shifts in the production and consumption of audiovisual content due to the continued convergence between media, telecommunications and technology. The Cinema Technology Exhibition at the 53rd IFFI, which was organized by the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune, thus highlights what is new in the field of entertainment technology,” said the director of IFFI, Ravinder Bhakar.

“The exhibition featured major manufacturers of film equipment such as cameras, lenses, lights, camera grips, color grading software, animation, VFX, AR, VR. The exhibition was opened by Indian Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Anurag Thakur.
