In January, Apple released macOS Big Sur version 11.7.3, including security updates. However, some online reports claim that the software upgrade also caused a new flaw that prevents icons from appearing in Safari’s Favorites section.
Affected customers have complained about the issue on Twitter, Reddit, the Apple Support Community, and other online forums since the update was released last month. At the time of this writing, around 300 customers have clicked the “Me too” button in one of the Apple Support Community threads to say they are also experiencing the issue.
Many websites in the Favorites area that usually display an icon for affected users remain empty or with just a letter.
It’s unclear if Apple is aware of the issue or if another version of macOS would be needed for a fix. Due to the significant security changes being rolled out, updating to macOS 11.7.3 is still advised in the meantime. This Safari issue does not affect newer versions of macOS Monterey and macOS Ventura.
