A ROCK on your finger says loud and clear, “I’m taken.”
But what does the engagement ring you choose say about your personality? A lot, says a pro to the US Sun.
SIMPLE SOLITAIRE: THE VISIONARY
A singular stone set in a band of gold, silver or platinum is a classic engagement ring – and a sign that the wearer is a planner.
“A simple solitaire is for someone who loves modern yet minimalist design,” says Anya Walsh, 77 Diamonds jewelry expert, adding that it’s for “a forward-looking purist.”
“Although a simple solitaire might seem like a classic choice, we notice that this design is very popular among our young population.
“It’s because solitaires provide more flexibility for pairing and layering jewelry, which is a very modern trend.
“This person has always believed that less is more, and knows how to shape diamonds to suit their style, whatever the season.”
VINTAGE/ANTIQUE: THE INDIVIDUALIST
“Sometimes you have to make the rules to break them,” says Walsh.
“Vintage or antique rings are for foreigners who like to be a bit unique. They like to find beauty in intricate details and have a flair for history and fashion.
“They want their jewelry to tell a story and understand that a bright future cannot be built without the wisdom of the past.
“A person who loves vintage or antique rings is also a true perfectionist: every detail must match their ‘T’ style.”
HALO: PARTY
“An outgoing personality, halo ring wearers are always the life of the party,” says Walsh.
“They love glamor and glitz and aren’t afraid to show it.
“Always elegant and daring, they understand that jewelry is an extension of their personality, and often as a touch of playfulness and creativity when it comes to designing their rings.
“But amid that bubbly personality, halo ring wearers are also very practical: Halo rings are a safe and protective setting, and offer more sparkle and shine than any other style.”
THREE-STONE: THE ROMANTIC
“A romantic type, those who opt for a trilogy ring seek to give every detail of their design a deeper meaning,” says Walsh.
“Trilogy rings symbolize a shared past, a bright present and an exciting future.
“Trilogy ring wearers are true optimists, but they are also pragmatic: they know how to manage whatever comes their way by reconnecting with their roots.”
COLOR GEMSTONE: THE GENERAL
According to Walsh, wearers of colored gemstones have a “bright personality” and “like to add something a little different to their jewelry.”
“They are by far the most adventurous type and aren’t afraid to experiment with their style,” she continued.
“Depending on the stone they choose, these jewelry aficionados also like their ring to reveal their personality, whether it’s fiery and passionate like ruby, or noble and honest like sapphire.”
Among those sporting colored gemstones are Jennifer Lopez and Megan Fox, who both have green engagement bling.
