YouTuber-listening boxer Jake Paul reacted optimistically when Matchroom Sports chairman Eddie Hearn sued him for $100 million.
‘The Problem Child’ was angered by Glenn Feldman when he scored against his Most Valuable Promotions fighter, Amanda Serrano, in her fight with Katie Taylor earlier this year.
In August, Feldman was the only official to have Anthony Joshua edge out Oleksandr Usyk in their unified heavyweight title rematch in Saudi Arabia.
During one with IFL TV, which has since been removed from YouTube, the 5-0 boxer alleged that Feldman was corrupt and was being paid by Hearn’s promotion to score fights for them.
Hearn, who oversees the careers of some of boxing’s biggest names, took issue with Paul publicly smearing his company with unsubstantiated match-fixing allegations and vowed to take action.
TMZ claims the boxing promoter is seeking damages ‘well in excess’ of $100m (£88m) from the social media star, who made ‘strangely false’ statements about two recent fights .
After weeks of silence on the matter, Paul has spoken out for the first time since being sued by Hearn for an absorbing amount of money and clearly he’s not bothered.
“I’m not even focused on that. I have this fight coming up on October 29 and my lawyers are dealing with it. So I didn’t even think about it,” Paul told MMA Junkie.
“I don’t care. I get sued all the time for stupid bullshit. I’m 5-0 in the trials and 5-0 in the ring. I’ve got all the time in the world. All the money in the world and I’m just focused on October 29. Stop it, everyone!
Later this month, Paul will face the toughest test of his short boxing career when he takes on UFC legend Anderson Silva in a 187-pound catchweight bout in Arizona.
Despite being 47, the MMA icon has successfully traversed the boxing world since leaving the UFC in 2020, scoring wins over former world champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, Tito Oritz and Bruno Machado.
A victory for Paul later this month would help prove his skeptics wrong and set up a massive fight with fellow UFC legend Nate Diaz, who recently became a free agent after 15 years with the first promotion of mma.
