CHICAGO – Illinois health officials on Saturday announced 7,873 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19, including 108 more deaths on Saturday, with public health experts fearing that recent progress in mitigation was lost over Thanksgiving.
The deaths have been reported in the following counties:
- Bureau County: 1 woman from the 80s
- Cook County: 1 woman 30, 3 women 40, 2 men 40, 3 men 50, 6 women 60, 9 men 60, 10 women 70, 10 men 70, 12 women 80, 11 men 80 years old, 5 women 90 years old, 3 men 90 years old
- DuPage County: 1 man 50, 1 woman 60, 2 men 70, 1 man 80, 2 men 90
- Greene County: 1 woman from the 1960s
- County Knox: 1 male from the 1970s
- Lake County: 1 70s man, 1 80s man
- Macoupin County: 1 man from the 1970s
- Madison County: 2 women from the 60s, 1 woman from the 70s, 1 woman from the 80s, 2 women from the 90s, 2 men from the 90s
- Ogle County: 1 woman from the 90s
- Peoria County: 1 woman from the 1970s, 1 woman from the 1980s
- St. Clair County: 1 man from the 90s
- Stephenson County: 1 man from the 1960s
- Whiteside County: 2 men from the 60s, 1 woman from the 80s, 1 woman from the 90s
- Will County: 1 female 40, 1 female 70
- Williamson County: 1 man from the 1980s
Currently, the IDPH reports a total of 712,936 cases, including 12,137 deaths, in 102 counties in Illinois.
In the past 24 hours, labs reported 79,055 samples for a total of 10,368,278.
As of Friday night, 5,775 people in Illinois were reportedly hospitalized for COVID-19. Of these, 1,211 patients were in intensive care and 686 patients on ventilators.
The statewide seven-day preliminary positivity for cases as a percentage of total testing from Nov.21 to Nov.27 is 10.1%. The state-wide seven-day pre-test positivity from Nov.21 to Nov.27 is 12.2%.
