Brighton winger Leandro Trossard has said he is ready to join former boss Graham Potter at Chelsea if the opportunity arises.

The Belgian has become a key figure for the Seagulls after joining Genk in 2019, making 110 appearances so far while scoring 20 goals.

Trossard says he would be willing to follow Potter to Stamford Bridge

Potter left Brighton for Chelsea earlier this month and despite the Seagulls’ fantastic start to the campaign, the 27-year-old admits he would be willing to follow Potter to west London.

However, in an interview with Belgian media, Trossard stressed that any suggestion he could leave Brighton was pure speculation at this stage.

“Our coach has left for Chelsea now, but speculation that I’m following him doesn’t make sense,” Trossard told Het Nieuwsblad.

“If the opportunity arises, I want to go. But I want to play and not sit on the bench.

Trossard’s excellent form saw him become a regular in Roberto Martinez’s Belgium side.

The winger believes his move to the AMEX Stadium was a huge benefactor in his breakthrough on the international stage where he won 20 caps for his country, scoring five times.

“I feel very good. We got off to a very good start with Brighton. I have evolved enormously,” continued Trossard.

“I now know how the Premier League works. I grew up a lot there. Confidence, mentally, physically I improved. I’ve mastered the stuff now.

Upon his return to Brighton, Trossard will be faced with the task of impressing a new manager after the club appointed Roberto De Zerbi as their new manager.

The former Shakhtar Donetsk boss signed a four-year deal with the Seagulls last week but is yet to work with the club’s international stars.

Meanwhile, Trossard played a cameo role in Belgium’s 2-1 Nations League win over Wales on Thursday, where he came off the bench to play the final 25 minutes.
