Troy Deeney claimed “he would eat horse shit” if he saw Cristiano Ronaldo do the same.
The football phenomenon has had a huge impact since returning to Manchester United for an initial £ 12million, already scoring three times in just two matches.
But his influence hasn’t just been seen on the pitch, as current United reserve keeper Lee Grant explained to talkSPORT earlier this week.
Grant revealed that neither player ate dessert at dinner after watching Ronaldo eat quinoa and avocado.
He said, “To give you an example of the impact he’s having on the right group. It was Friday night at the hotel.
“So as you know you finish your dinner and usually on a Friday night you have cheat stuff.
“You have apple crumble and custard or you have a little brownie and cream or whatever.
“I’m telling you now, no player touched the apple crumble and custard, no player went to get that brownie because everyone was seated.
“One of the guys said to me, ‘What’s Cristiano on his plate?
“So we had a little glimpse of what he had and obviously it’s the cleanest, healthiest plate you can imagine.
“And it cracked me up to see that no player dared to get up and have this junk food that was laid out.”
In light of the comments, Deeney joked that he would do whatever Ronaldo did if it meant he was on par with the 36-year-old.
“If I saw Ronaldo eating horse shit for a pre-game meal, I would eat horse shit too!” The Birmingham forward told the Sun.
Ronaldo’s incredibly toned figure stems from his meticulous diet.
The ex-Real Madrid man eats often but in small amounts, consuming around six meals a day spaced 3-4 hours apart.
It does this to meet the high nutritional requirements of a top footballer and to support the rapid metabolism of athletes.
With a nutritionist by his side wherever he goes, Ronaldo has been following this diet since his days at Real.
You wouldn’t be surprised if he is still playing his forties.
