An ice hockey player needed 90 stitches after being hit in the face by an NHL fight on Wednesday night.
New York Islanders star Johnny Boychuk’s game ended early when a Montreal Canadiens skid by Artturi Lehkonen accidentally caught him on the eyelid.
Lehkonen slipped on the ice and the skate on his back leg grabbed Boychuk under his visor.

Johnny Boychuk immediately fell to the ground in pain
Boychuk, while holding his face in pain, rushed out of the ice to seek treatment immediately after the incident.

Despite this frightening ordeal, the Islanders president and general manager, Lou Lamoriello, revealed that Boychuk would be “fine”.
He said, “Johnny Boychuk is fine.
“Fortunately, the skate blade just received the eyelid. A plastic surgeon took 90 stitches to repair it. But he will be fine. “
Boychuk also went on Twitter to say he was “lucky” that his injuries were not worse.
The human rights defender wrote: “Thank you all for the positive messages and the thoughts! I am extremely grateful to you. Know that they did not go unanswered.
“Fortunately for me, the skate just cut my eyelids. Sorry for the late reply… facial recognition didn’t work… thanks again my friends. Johnny B. “
The New York Islanders ended up losing 6-2 to the Montreal Canadiens that evening.
