Indian skipper and runner Virat Kohli has become the first cricketer to reach 100 million subscribers on the Facebook-owned photo and video sharing platform Instagram. Kohli joined Juventus forward Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar, Argentina striker Lionel Messi, Hollywood actor and former professional wrestler Dwayne (The Rock) Johnson, American singer-songwriter Beyonce and Ariana Grande in the 100 million euro club. Kohli is also the fourth most followed athlete on Instagram.
Ronaldo leads the table with 265 million followers, while Barcelona captain Messi and Brazilian Neymar are second and third on the list with 186 million and 147 million followers respectively.
Kohli had previously become the first Asian to reach 75 million followers on Instagram.
Speaking of cricketers, Virat Kohli has more than three times the followers of the second MS Dhoni (30.4 million).
Besides Instagram, Kohli also has a considerable number of fans on other social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook. At present, he has 40.8 million followers on Twitter, and over 36 million likes on Facebook.
As the Indian drummers took the next step, ICC greeted Kohli with a special message.
And soon, fans lined up to congratulate the special player and celebrate Kohli’s love for tons.
Recently, Kohli outclassed Bollywood stars Akshay Kumar and Ranveer to retain the # 1 spot in India’s Most Valuable Celebrity List. According to Duff & Phelps’ Celebrity 2020 brand valuation study, the Indian skipper has been crowned as India’s Most Valuable Celebrity with a brand value of $ 237.7 million.
