Jennifer Lawrence worried her 21-year-old co-star would bore her
Jennifer Lawrence has been cast in the R-rated comedy No strong emotions opposite Andrew Barth Feldman. Feldman is comparatively younger than Lawrence at 21 while she is 33. Therefore, Lawrence was initially worried about dealing with an inexperienced and childish co-star. When asked what she thought of Feldman, she told People:
“Authentic, sparkling and above all not boring. I was very worried that my young co-star would bore me all day, every day. And immediately, I shut up and I was like, okay, this is not a boring person.
Feldman also complimented Lawrence’s generosity while expressing gratitude for making it normal for him on set. He also praised her for making him feel comfortable and at ease during some of the film’s awkward scenes.

The film was criticized for condoning sexual grooming. Speaking about this controversy and the misinterpretation that people had made of the film, Andrew Barth Feldman told The Independent:
“I think we all felt like it was a controversial premise. But the movie never condones the things that Jennifer’s character does or my character’s parents do. It’s a movie about flawed people and it’s a cringeworthy comedy. You’re supposed to grind your teeth! You are meant to sit with these uncomfortable feelings.
Feldman’s comments become evident when one watches the film and realizes that the film is a heartwarming story of friendship disguised as an as*x comedy. The film also satirizes helicopter parenting and the idea that men must be outgoing and attractive to appear cool and relevant in today’s society.
