But Hugh Jackman watched the world away from his shaggy Wolverine as he enjoyed an early morning stroll with his mother, Grace, in New York.

The 51-year-old actor appeared to be in a good mood as he strolled the city streets with his mother after spending years rebuilding their relationship after his abrupt departure from the family when Hugh was only a kid.

He kept his chest warm with a puffy black waistcoat and wore high socks with a pair of black sneakers.

Grace wrapped in a vibrant coat zipped up to the neck, paired with black pants and gray Nike sneakers.

The mother-son duo seemed to enjoy a lively conversation as they hammered the sidewalk in Manhattan.

Years ago, the Les Miserables star admitted that her mother abandoned her siblings and returned to the UK at the age of eight.

“ One of the main things I remember is that horrible feeling that people were talking about you and looking at you because it was strange for the mother to leave, ” he said.

“The thing I never felt, and I know it may sound strange, I never felt that my mother did not love me. I’ve talked about it at length with her since then and I know she was struggling. She was in the hospital after I was born, suffering from postnatal depression, ” he added. “There was no support network for her here.”

“I think having children just adds another level of empathy and understanding,” he said. “And there comes a point in life when you have to stop blaming others for your feelings or the misfortunes of your life.
