[Barcelona, Spain, June 22, 2022] At the Next Generation Optical Networking (NGON 2022) held in Barcelona, Spain, Huawei stood out from many vendors by winning the “Optical Vendor of the Year” award in the optical field. This award recognizes the efforts of equipment suppliers to continuously innovate in the field of optical transport by offering a complete range of solutions.
Huawei wins “Optical Vendor of the Year” award
Huawei has devoted itself to the optical field and ranked first in the optical communications market for 14 consecutive years, and has advanced basic research capabilities. Huawei also continuously leads innovation in areas such as ultra-broadband, ultra-wideband spectrum, and all-optical OXC switching. At the 20th NGON Forum in 2018, Informa awarded Huawei the “Best Single-Channel Programmable 400G Product” award.
At NGON Forum 2022, Huawei showcased the next-generation 400G coherent modules. Based on the innovative GSC FEC algorithm and ultra-nyquist spectrum shaping (FTN) technology of the new Turbo architecture, the 400G transmission performance is continuously improved. To date, Huawei has deployed 400G networks worldwide for more than 50 carriers.
In addition, Huawei also launched the industry’s first ultra-wideband spectrum Super C120+L120 solution, which will facilitate the generational evolution of backbone networks from 100G x 80 wavelength systems to 400G x 80 wavelength systems. . Based on the new elemental doping of fibers with erbium and on technological advances, this solution doubles the available spectral resources of optical fibers, marking a new historic advance in the field of optical transmission.
Huawei continues to make technological breakthroughs in the field of all-optical OXC switching. Since launching the industry’s first OXC in 2017, Huawei has put more than 3,000 OXCs into commercial use globally, helping to achieve green connectivity. At this NGON forum, Huawei unveiled a miniaturized blade OXC device for metro networks, forming a series of end-to-end OXC products to build the green all-optical network. Compact Edge OTN devices with in-blade OXC capabilities will help operators deploy WDM devices in COs, commercial buildings, and even wireless networking sites.
Huawei actively contributes to the industry standards of autonomous driving network by launching the all-optical autonomous driving network (ADN) solution. More than 300 sets have been deployed worldwide. Innovative features such as optical network health assurance, intelligent co-cable detection, and intelligent alarm compression enable proactive O&M and dramatically improve efficiency.
Huawei’s high-end private line solution has been marketed by dozens of carriers around the world. This year, Huawei launched an innovative OTN P2MP solution, which helps carriers create inclusive OTN quality private lines and increase the user base by 10 times.
Victor Zhou, President of Huawei’s Optical Transport Field, said, “Huawei has long been committed to making strategic investments and technological breakthroughs in optical communications, helping carriers establish ubiquitous optical connections from high quality. Through OTN, it continues to be deployed for CO, sites, campuses, buildings and data centers to enable digital transformation in various industries. We are committed to achieving λ to Everywhere, Premium Connectivity Lighting up the Digital World.
