The Huawei Watch 3 appears to be on the way and it will ship with HarmonyOS. HarmonyOS, as many of you already know, is Huawei’s own operating system. This software is also rumored to be preinstalled on Huawei P50 series smartphones.
The Huawei Watch 3 would come with HarmonyOS and eSIM
Huawei was banned from using Google services on its devices and decided to create a new operating system because of it. HarmonyOS is Huawei’s answer to all of this, and it will be interesting to see what it delivers.
The Huawei Watch 2 launched in 2017 and ships with Wear OS. Since then, Huawei has released several “Watch GT” products, which come with their own software. Well, it looks like Huawei is changing course again.
Note that this information comes from Weibo, a well-known Chinese tipster. He also shared what appears to be a screenshot of the watch’s user interface, showing a number of its apps. It looks like Huawei is planning a huge UI overhaul here.
What’s interesting is that the interface shown here is different from what was shown in September. The HarmonyOS watch demo was shown back then, and it looks considerably different.
The watch is said to include “advanced AI features”
It is suggested that the watch will focus on advanced artificial intelligence features and may offer shorter battery life than the Huawei Watch GT 2. This watch lasted around two weeks for us at during our review period.
The Huawei Watch 3 will also reportedly include an eSIM. Such a feature will enable mobile data connectivity. It will probably depend on where you buy the watch from, we’ll see.
We don’t know when this watch will launch, but it’s possible that it will arrive alongside the Huawei P50 series. The launch of the Huawei P50 series has reportedly been postponed until June. More information will likely follow soon.
