With a unanimous 5-0 verdict, the telecommunications regulator has banned the use of federal subsidies by small rural operators to buy equipment from Huawei and ZTE for reasons of national security.

While these investments will ultimately help minimize the costs of providing services to compete in broadband, rural coverage and wireless densification, short-term profitability has been largely compromised.
Nokia and Ericsson are largely prey to these discomforts, facing high 5G product costs and high levels of deployment service costs consistent with the initial phase of 5G.
