Huawei is about to expand its portfolio of fitness accessories. The company is preparing to Huawei Watch smartwatch in India. The smartwatch will cost less than 10,000 rupees. Huawei Watch Fit features a 1.64 AMOLED display with 2.5D curved glass, 98 training modes, heart rate tracking, SpO2 support and 10 days of battery life.
Huawei Watch Fit is currently available in China, Germany, Netherlands, Italy and United Kingdom (UK). There are two models: Regular and Elgant. The regular model has four colors – Mint Green, Sakura Pink, Cantaloupe Orange and Graphite Black. Elegant Edition colors include Midnight Black and Frosty White.
This means that the smartwatch will be the company’s entry into the affordable smartwatch segment. Smartwatches are part of the wearable segment. Huawei’s portfolio of wearable devices in India includes smartwatches and fitness bracelets. The range of smartwatches in India includes Huawei GT Watch 2 Pro, Huawei Watch GT 2, Huawei Watch GT 2 GT 2e and Huawei Watch GT. In fitness bands, buyers get Huawei Band 6 and Huawei Band 4.
According to International Data Corp (IDC), the Indian wearable market grew 118.2% year-on-year in 2Q21 (April-June), with 11.2 million units shipped. According to IDC India Monthly Wearable Device Tracker, strong shipments of local brands of earrings and watches have fueled this growth. Watches continued to be the fastest growing category, accounting for 81.2% share of the wearable category which includes watches and bracelets, up from 35.0% a year ago.
Over the quarters, the form factor of the watch appears to be appealing to consumers, and Indian brands have been quicker to capitalize on this trend and align their device portfolios.
