Huawei Pura 70 Ultra teardown confirms 7nm Kirin 9010 – Android News

The Huawei Pura 70 Ultra teardown has appeared online and confirmed the 7nm Kirin 9010. We knew that was the chip used, but we weren’t 100% sure that it was a 7nm processor.

Huawei Pura 70 Ultra teardown confirms Kirin 9010 is a 7nm chip

TechInsights just confirmed it, and it’s exactly what we expected. SMIC manufactured this chip for Huawei. The same company is expected to do the same with a 5nm processor later this year, from the Huawei Mate 70 series.

As many of you know, Huawei is under the US ban, which has complicated a lot of things for the company. Huawei has been unable to include 5G connectivity on its phones for years. It achieved this last year with the Mate 60 series thanks to the Kirin 9000S.

The Kirin 9000S is also a 7nm processor manufactured by SMIC. The Kirin 9010 comes with a 12-core CPU cluster, not an 8-core one. In addition, the company has opted for a 2+6+4 configuration here. The chip also supports LPDDR5X RAM.

It has the same GPU as the Kirin 9000S, but with more cores

The Maleoon 910 GPU is included, as is the Kirin 9000S. The point is that this GPU has lower clock speeds, but more cores overall, and therefore should offer better performance.

That being said, the Kirin 9010 powers the Huawei Pura 70 Pro and Ultra devices. These phones were launched only in China. Huawei is also expected to launch its Pura 70 series globally, but it remains to be seen if the same SoC will be used.

Huawei might choose a different chip in global models, that remains to be seen. We still don’t know when this will happen, in fact Huawei hasn’t categorically confirmed it yet. We have a feeling it’s going to happen though, because that’s what’s happened in the past with this series. Well, truth be told, until this year these were Huawei P series smartphones, not Pura series devices. Huawei has decided to rename them.
