Users are waiting for EMUI 13 and Huawei is sending out a new software update for global flagship smartphone models. However, these aren’t just regular updates, as they add important Huawei VoLTE and VoWiFi features.
According to the information, the latest software update comes with VoLTE and VoWiFi HD calling features based on a certain Huawei market or region. Moreover, these features are currently noted for flagship models such as Mate 40 Pro, Mate 30 Pro and P40 series.
But we expect them to roll out VoLTE and VoWiFi HD calling features on more models. Changelog reveals that Mate 30 Pro and Mate 40 Pro get EMUI 12.0.0.282. On the other hand, the P40 series is up for grabs on EMUI package version 12.0.0.280.
What are VoWiFi and VoLTE?
The VoWiFi or Wi-Fi Calling feature allows users to use VoWiFi-enabled smartphones to dial numbers to use voice or video calls over Wi-Fi. Currently in India, only Jio and Airtel networks offer VoWiFi services.
VoLTE is the abbreviation of “Voice over LTE” and offers the possibility of making voice calls via the data communication of the LTE/4G mobile network. VoLTE has up to three times more voice and data capacity than older 3G and up to six times more than 2G.
