Last year, Huawei announced EMUI 12 for older devices. The list was quite long but we became more interested after checking the inclusion of Huawei P20 and Mate 10 series in the upgrade campaign.
Huawei P20 and Mate 10 are one of the most popular and successful devices. And even after ignoring EMUI 11, Huawei opted to upgrade these two device models to the latest EMUI version – EMUI 12.
Therefore, a user of these devices and our fellow reader shared some amazing screenshots of Huawei P20 and Mate 10 series running EMUI 12 and let us know how it’s user interface (UI) in real time.
Let’s check these UI changes in detail.
Homepage:
Compared to the old UI, the new EMUI 12 theme has done a great job on these devices. On-screen icons have been redesigned and retouched with a round corner and a smooth look. Icons such as calculator, gallery, camera and most importantly settings have been completely changed.
Large folders:
Large folders cannot be considered an exception as it is an important feature. As you can see from the screenshot, it helps users to group all related apps together and keep the screen tidy and clean.
The UI and look adventure does not end here as EMUI 12 comes with new fonts and these fonts are clearly visible and support the overall aesthetics of the theme itself.
Control Panel:
The second biggest change the Mate 10 and P20 series have now includes the new control panel. Yes, the new control panel, puts a whole new control in the hand of these phone users. There are different sections to manage media, networks, shortcut switches, as well as smart devices.
You also have the option to swipe left and switch to a separate notification panel, which has an entire screen space. Whereas it was previously tagged with quick settings.
Not on those, the EMUI 12 comes with new permission management and security features to keep your phone data safe. It also gives you more control over what you share with the active app.
Supermarkets:
Huawei Mate 10 and P20 series launched with Google Mobile Services (GMS) and EMUI 12 does not scratch or change anything with it. So rest assured that EMUI 12 is safe to install.
