With HUAWEI introducing the Kunlun Glass display on its latest flagship, the Mate50 Pro, the company is now offering screen upgrades for some of its older smartphone lines in the UAE.
Studies have found that more than two-thirds of all after-sales maintenance cases show screen damage. A simple crack in the glass is often enough to justify a repair, or even lead to the replacement of the entire screen, the central frame and even the battery.
Huawei says it created the Kunlun Glass to solve this “pain point” for consumers. When developing Kunlun Glass, Huawei engineers were inspired by the rugged characteristics of reinforced concrete structures. Further research revealed that the load-bearing walls of traditional buildings could maintain a stable structure even if the surface was damaged after adding a reinforcement layer. To apply the same technique to smartphone screens, they found a way to introduce large numbers of nanocrystals into the glass to form a dense support structure to improve strength. Thus, the Kunlun glass coating consists of 10 quadrillion such nanocrystals, made possible by composite ion strengthening, nanocrystal growth over 24 hours at high temperature, material processing techniques and microcrystalline panels at 108 stages and platinum melting technology at 1600℃, which increases the durability of the glass.
Select P and Mate series users in the UAE can now benefit from the Kunlun glass upgrade service, certified by the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company SGS Switzerland with the first-ever drop resistance certification 5 star glass.
From AED 269, an additional 10% discount is available until February 28, 2023 at HUAWEI Sky Tower Authorized Service Center, Dubai.
