Huawei is racing to reclaim its market position and is betting on its own operating system as the catalyst for its resurgence. Meanwhile, the company continues to bring new products for unconventional segments in order to keep the business running smoothly. Today, the company unveiled a new tablet targeting young children. The new tablet carries Huawei MatePad T 10 Kids Edition and is a scaled-down version of the MatePad T 10 which was released a few months ago in Japan. The device even shares the same chipset as its brother. With that said, let’s take a look at the specifications and features of the Huawei MatePad T 10 Kids.
Huawei MatePad T 10 Kids Edition specifications and key features
The Huawei MatePad T 10 Kids Editions sports a 9.7-inch IPS LCD display with a screen resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. This is an HD resolution with a pixel density of approximately 156 ppi. It’s not a very crisp screen due to its size and resolution, but we don’t think its audience will be too demanding. Under the hood, slate packs the very dated Hisilicon Kirin 710A chipset. It comes with 2GB of RAM and there are 16GB and 32GB storage variants. Of course, you can expand the storage in either case.
The external and internal software design of the Huawei MatePad T 10 Kids Edition confirms that the tablet is well designed and programmed for children. On the one hand, the exterior of the tablet has a shockproof, brightly colored case made of food grade silicone. As a result, the product will not bring toxicity to children playing with the tablet. The case is also removable, leaving the tablet in a sleek plastic body.
The tablet also comes with an easy-to-access kickstand. It will make it easier to hold this tablet while your kids are watching a video. The crutch also serves as a handle for the slate. There is also a stylus attached to the case. The tablet also sports a single 5MP camera at the bin that offers 1080p video recording. The front of the screen houses a 2MP selfie snapper.
Huge battery with limited charge
The device is powered by a 5100 mAh battery. It’s not a bad size for resolution and specs, but the load is painful. Although it comes with a USB-C charger, the device is limited to a 5W charger. We think it has to do with the fact that this is a tablet intended for children. Likewise, Huawei has blocked access to the tablet while it is charging. This is a good measure to protect children and keep them away from electrical outlets. For connectivity, the MatePad T 10 Kids Edition integrates Bluetooth 5.1, Wi-Fi 5, GPS and LTE.
It is running EMUI 10.1 based on Android 10 and not expecting any kind of Google app here. Despite this, the tablet will come with a bunch of apps and features aimed at kids. There is a Kids Corner that provides different time, app, and content management features to prevent kids from accessing bad content. Huawei also offers a free 12-month subscription to Azoomee which offers a catalog of age-appropriate puzzles, games and inspirational videos.
Pricing and availability
As for the price, the Huawei MatePad T 10 Kids Edition will retail for $ 200 in Indonesia. The tablet is already available for pre-order in the country. it is not yet known when it will be available in other regions.
