[Dubai, the UAE, October 18, 2021] At the 2021 Global Mobile Broadband Forum (MBBF), Huawei launched the SingleBAND solution to help operators converge multiple bands onto a single network in the 5G era. The solution integrates flexible full-band decoupling and full-band multibeam 3D coordination, and introduces smart functionality to base stations. This allows networks to maximize the value of spectrum while achieving peak performance and 5Gigaverse.
Multiband convergence on a single layer network for optimal performance
5G uses more bands than 4G, further amplifying the differences in bandwidth performance and coverage between TDD and FDD bands.
Multiband convergence on a network effectively coordinates resources on different bands. This will facilitate mutual support between the different bands to maximize their respective strengths and improve spectral efficiency. In other words, the networks will be able to provide optimum performance with a given amount of spectrum, thus maximizing the value of the spectrum.
Flexible full-band decoupling for ubiquitous gigabit
Uplink and downlink decoupling is a major breakthrough in 5G multiband technology. It enables operators to make full use of the existing sub-3GHz spectrum to carry 5G NR data, improve TDD uplink and downlink coverage, and increase data speeds at the edge of cells. Huawei is further improving uplink and downlink decoupling technology to provide Super Uplink. The enhancement enables time and frequency domain multiplexing of C-band and below 3 GHz uplink resources to dramatically improve uplink performance and enhance the indoor experience from five to six times. With 100 MHz SUL bandwidth, a single user can perceive an uplink speed of up to 1.1 Gbps. This high level of performance meets the uplink requirements of multi-camera 4K HD live streaming, machine vision applications and other services. Flexible multiband decoupling allows mobile networks to optimally select and combine uplink bands below 3 GHz for specific users, improving the average user experience by 30%.
Full-band multibeam 3D coordinated planning to improve capacity
Multi-antenna technology is essential for 5G and has already enabled multi-user coupling on a single band on mobile networks.
Full-band multibeam 3D coordinated programming is an important new direction for multi-antenna innovation. This will facilitate efficient coordination between different bands and help optimize user distribution based on specific beam load, interference, spectral efficiency and device capabilities. As a result, the networks will operate at peak efficiency while providing 25% more capacity.
Base station intelligence upgrades multiband technology
Base station intelligence helps predict signal strength, spectral efficiency, and beams over radio interfaces to improve multiband performance over mobile networks. Enhanced by intelligent functionality, multiband functionality, such as Rapid Carrier Aggregation (CA), Intelligent Carrier Selection, Intelligent Anchor Selection, and Intelligent Selection of NSA EN-DC Carrier Combinations, enhance performance. 20% user experience on multiband networks without increasing spectrum and hardware resources.
“Innovation never stops,” commented Aaron Jiang, president of Huawei’s SingleRAN product line. “In the era of 5G, with the increasing complexity of multi-band and multi-beam networks that involve multiple radio access standards, Huawei is providing the SingleBAND solution to help operators maximize their spectrum potential through the multi-band convergence. This ensures optimal network performance. “
The 12th Global Mobile Broadband Forum offers the opportunity for mobile and adjacent vertical ecosystems to reconnect, rebuild and reinvent a smart, fully connected world. Topics currently under discussion with global partners range from maximizing the potential of 5G, including industry use cases and applications, to advancing the mobile future.
