The Cambodian arm of tech giant Huawei and MekongNet, a leading internet service provider, have agreed to work together to provide better internet service and connectivity in the Kingdom.
This latest partnership between the two parties led to the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Wednesday at the Hyatt Regency in Bangkok, Thailand.
The signing took place on the sidelines of Huawei Connect 2022, which was held in the Thai capital from September 19-21.
Zhao Zhongyang, Business Enterprise Manager of Huawei Cambodia, and Chan Ty, CTO of MekongNet, signed the MoU on behalf of their respective organizations.
The signing was attended by MekongNet CEO Sok Channda, Huawei APAC Enterprise Business Group President Nicholas Ma and Huawei Cambodia CEO Sovann Yao, along with other senior officials from both companies.
In his message, Channda noted, “This is a special day for Huawei and MekongNet. We are happy to cooperate with one of the world leaders in communication solutions.
She said, “After that, we hope to work more closely with Huawei to bring new products and share technology solutions to Cambodia in the future.”
Nicholas, for his part, talked about the company’s global and local presence.
“We are a technology provider. We have been serving the world for 35 years already,” he said. “As a technology provider, we are very keen to share our technology, our experience, our values with the whole of society.”
Nicholas also congratulated Sovann Yao for successfully leading the business in Cambodia.
“We serve the Cambodian market under the relentless leadership of Sovann,” he stressed.
Huawei has been operating in Cambodia since 1999.
“I learned that there is huge market potential in Cambodia. Many homes demand the best quality broadband connections and the best services,” Nicholas said.
Nicholas described the occasion as a “significant moment”.
“Today is definitely an important moment for us. Huawei and MekongNet are teaming up to provide better connection and better services to the Cambodian people,”
“I hope we can bring our strengths and the strengths of MekongNet and achieve more success in the Cambodian market,” he concluded.
Huawei has been described as the “world’s leading provider of information and communication technology (ICT) infrastructure and smart devices”. The company employs nearly 200,000 people and operates in more than 170 countries in Asia, North America, South America, Europe, Oceania and Africa. It was established in 1987 and based in Shenzhen, China.
Huawei has worked with many organizations and companies in Cambodia over the past 23 years.
Last month, Huawei Cambodia signed a Green & Smart Campus MoU with the Cambodia Travel Goods and Leather Association (CTLA). The company has also partnered with the Cambodian government, CamTech, American University of Phnom Penh (AUPP), and SchneiTec Group earlier.
