As part of its corporate social responsibility, the management of Huawei Technologies in partnership with the Special Intervention Program on Communal and Societal Development (SIPCOD), a non-profit organization, modernized and equipped a e-learning with 58 state-of-the-art devices – art computers among others at Sardauna Memorial College, Kaduna.
The gesture was to support students with the required ICT skills to compete in the global world after high school.
Speaking at the event, SIDCOM Chairman, Engineer Murphy Dogun said the renovation process included plastering the existing walls, changing the ceiling, changing all the doors and windows, painting , the provision of air conditioners and fans and the provision of new electrical infrastructure to enable the school connects to the appropriate power source.
“This upgraded facility was to house two identical classrooms and a technical/server room containing a total of 58 high-end all-in-one personal computers for students, two projectors, two printers and two state-of-the-art Huawei computers. technology, all placed on a local network offering high-speed Internet connectivity, the data supply of which was only carried out for one year.

He hopes the center will provide access to the wide range of educational materials available on the internet to the host community with the aim of improving the quality of education and creating opportunities for discovering greatness.
He noted that the center has been modernized and named after architect Shamsuna Ahmed, an alumnus of the school who became a successful architect and a seasoned civil servant.
In his opening remarks, Alhaji Habibu Idris Alhassan, Head of Public School, Ministry of Education, who represented the Hon. Kaduna State Education Commissioner, Hajiya Halima Lawal, said that the center offered by Huawei will go a long way in equipping current and future students. from school with basic digital literacy skills that will shape their application of ICT in the future.

Deputy Managing Director of Huawei Technologies Company Nigeria Limited, Yang Yang, said Huawei is focused on connecting young people with a digital future by equipping them with the relevant knowledge and skills they need to excel, especially in creating an environment conducive to student development.
“We want to create an ecosystem where everyone can enjoy long-term predictable benefits and sustainable development. That’s why we are happy to take the opportunity given to us to create an online learning center. We also hope that with the new learning facility, students here will enjoy a better learning environment,” he said.
He encouraged students at the school to keep working hard and staying determined saying, “Technology gives the quietest student a voice.
Principal of the school, Jumare Tukur, said the online learning center will go a long way in bridging the information, communication and technology (ICT) gap in the school so that students in school can compete favorably with their peers.
He said that although the school has 54 teachers to impart knowledge to the 1,022 students and enough classes, he urged former students to do more to provide proof of burglary to the library to avoid that it is vandalized.
He, however, said he was optimistic that, thanks to Huawei, the school is now better equipped to train its students in IT and provide them with the skills required as they enter the world that is now a village. planetary.
