What there is to know
The Detroit Lions have enjoyed the comforts of home in their last two games, but now they have to hit the road. Detroit and the Minnesota Vikings will face off in an NFC North battle at 1 p.m. ET Sunday at US Bank Stadium. The teams split their matchups last year, with Minnesota winning the first 19-17 at home and the Lions the second 29-27.
Detroit managed to pull off a solid win over Washington Commanders last Sunday, winning 36-27. Detroit’s WR Amon-Ra St. Brown was on fire, catching nine passes for two touchdowns and 116 yards. St. Brown’s longest rush was 58 yards in the third quarter.
Detroit’s defense was there as well, as they got past Washington’s offensive line to sack QB Carson Wentz five times for a total loss of 29 yards. In the lead was DE Aidan Hutchinson and his three sacks. These were the first bags for Hutchinson.
Meanwhile, last Monday’s game between the Vikings and the Philadelphia Eagles wasn’t a total blowout, but with Minnesota falling 24-7 on the road, it was about to turn into one. QB Kirk Cousins had a memorable game, but not in the way you’d want to be remembered: Despite a touchdown, he threw three interceptions with just 4.8 yards per pass attempt.
Detroit is expected to lose the next one by 6. They hadn’t treated the fans well this season, but they’re at least 2-0 ATS.
Detroit came out on top in a hard-fought game against Minnesota when the two teams met in December last year, slipping past 29-27. The rematch might be a bit tougher for the Lions since the team won’t have home advantage. We’ll see if the location change makes a difference.
