Every Android device has a lock screen with some kind of security. Most of the time, that’s enough, but what if you want a little more security? This is where the “Lockdown” function comes in.
What is “Lockdown” on Android?
There are a handful of security methods you can use to prevent someone from breaking into your Android phone. However, not all of these methods are as safe as others.
For example, the face unlock on many Android devices is surprisingly easy to trick. Some Bluetooth devices can also unlock the phone. The most secure Android unlock methods are PIN, pattern, and password.
When you put the phone in “Lockdown”, it disables all these less secure unlocking methods. Fingerprint reader, face unlock and Smart Lock are completely disabled. Only PIN, pattern and password can be used.
This comes in handy in a situation where you need to quickly secure your device. With just one click, you can essentially add an extra layer of security.

How to Enable Lock Mode on Android
The lock feature is available on Android devices with version 9 and above. On Google Pixel devices, the button is available by default in the power menu. Samsung Galaxy owners need to activate it first.
Swipe down from the top of the screen to reveal the Quick Settings tiles. Tap the gear icon to open Settings.
Then go to “Lock screen”.
Now open “Secure Lock Settings”.
After entering your lock method, you will see some toggles. Enable the one labeled “Show lock option”.
That’s it. The lock option will now be available in the power menu.
How to Use Lock on Android
To use Lockdown, just open your phone’s power menu. This is usually done by pressing and holding the power button, although you may need to change this on a Samsung Galaxy device.

Press the “Lock” button in the menu.
The phone locks instantly and only your PIN, pattern and password can be used to unlock it. That’s all we can say about it. Locking is simply a quick way to lock your phone and know for sure that only a few specific methods will unlock it. Sometimes a little more security is needed.
