Arc Browser has become my default browser – at least on MacOS. (Hello, Browser Company: Please port this app to Linux.) Anyone who has ever started using this browser knows that the company behind it is rushing to release new features to keep up with – and, in some cases, surpass – the competition . .

One such feature is ChatGPT integration. Unlike many other browsers that have incorporated their own approach to AI, Arc Browser opts for already established AI. However, unlike other browsers, Arc’s AI integration is not as obvious. That’s okay, though, because once you know how to use it, it’s pretty simple.

Let me show you how to use ChatGPT in Arc Browser.

First, a caveat: When using Arc Max features (the AI-centric features on Arc Browser), the browser sends data to third parties. For example, when using Ask On Page, the partner is Anthropic. For all other features, data goes to OpenAI. If this doesn’t suit you, I wouldn’t advise enabling Arc Max.

What you will need: The only thing you’ll need for this is an updated version of Arc Browser on MacOS (Arc Max is not yet available for Windows – or Linux (see request above). In the Arc Max Settings pop-up window, click the button labeled Enable Max. Once you click on it, it will change to Enable All. Clicking this button will enable all Max features. If you don’t want to do this, scroll to the bottom of the window, where you will find the ChatGPT option. Toggle the On/Off slider for ChatGPT until it is in the On position. Once you have done that, you can close the Arc Max Settings pop-up window.

This is where things can get a little confusing. You won’t find a ChatGPT button that opens a side panel for queries. Here’s how to do it instead. Again, use the Command+T key combination to open the Command pop-up window.

Type ChatGPT (it is not case sensitive). Once you’ve done that, press Tab on your keyboard. This will replace the command bar with the ChatGPT prompt.

You can now enter your ChatGPT query, which will open a new Arc browser tab with the response.

Also: I replaced Google Search with Opera’s Aria AI and I don’t miss the old one at all.

No, it’s not as simple as, say, Opera’s Aria AI solution, but Arc Browser makes using ChatGPT quite simple. Hopefully this feature will come to the Windows version (and, um, a Linux port?) soon. If you are an Arc Browser user and a fan of AI, you will enjoy this ChatGPT integration.
