How to click a grayed out Accept button in macOS Settings – AppleInsider

If you’re browsing Apple’s terms and conditions when setting up macOS, you may be stopped in your tracks by an “Accept” button that you can’t click. Here’s what to do.

The grayed out “Accept” button does not appear to be limited to a single version of macOS

You’ve never read a “Terms and Conditions” or any other type of license agreement in your life, and you’re not going to start now. We’re not judging, but Apple would like you to at least acknowledge that these terms exist.

Even if you fully consider the vital importance of terms and conditions, there’s a particular bug in macOS that may mean you’re unable to click “Agree” after all that reading.

This is also a bug, and it seems to have been around for a while. Fortunately, there has long been a workaround.

How to bypass a grayed out “Accept” button

  1. On the “Accept” screen, click “Back” at least once.
  2. When you reach the screen asking for your Apple ID, click Configure later
  3. Click it Jump button that appears
  4. You are now back to the “Accept” screen and you can click on the button

You then need to continue setting up macOS, but once that’s done, you just need to add your Apple ID. Go to System settings to enter it and your Mac is now ready to use.
