Former Married At First Sight contestants have opened up about how much they’ve earned filming the reality dating series.
And while many brides and grooms looking for love see money coming in after their time on the show, the amount they actually earn during production is surprisingly dismal.
Nasser Sultan, who appeared in season five in 2018, revealed the exact amount he would earn each day, which did not cover some expenses.

“You get $150 for the day, that’s it,” he told Now to Love.
“But on top of that you have to pay expenses – your living expenses with the woman you marry.”
“It’s not clear at $150. You still have to pay rent if you rent, you have to pay your rego and it’s 12 hour shooting days,” he added.

Nasser added that none of the stars’ errands were covered and claimed producers would have them shop at the same expensive grocery store while filming. Pictured here with ‘bride’ Gabrielle Bartlett
Nasser, who “married” bride Gabrielle Bartlett, added that none of the stars’ errands were covered and claimed producers would have them shop at the same expensive grocery store while filming.
“Gab and I sometimes spent up to $70 a day on living, so we didn’t have much left after that,” he said.
The controversial star also claimed he made less than some of his co-stars, calling out Davina Rankin and Sarah Roza who he said made $50 more than him.

“Basically, the more you’ve done for the show, the more you get,” he continued.
Meanwhile, 2020 season seven’s Mikey Pembroke claimed that contestants didn’t earn a dime while filming MAFS – and the only money they received was for “living” while filming.
“You don’t get paid at all – that’s one thing that needs to change,” he said on the I’ve Got News For You podcast.

“You don’t get paid at all – that’s one thing that needs to change,” he said on the I’ve Got News For You podcast.
“But the show brings in an incredible amount of money. And let’s say you were on, you know, a TV show that’s doing really well, the actors are getting paid more and more because it’s doing so well.
The 2023 season of MAFS is set to air Monday night, with more twists and bombs than ever.
But some viewers are convinced the upcoming season was filmed on a tight budget after noticing a small detail in publicity photos of the cast.
Eagle-eyed fans couldn’t help but notice that the photos of the bride and groom looked “washed out” and hadn’t been color corrected.

A Tea Time Facebook group user shared a series of side-by-side images of wives Tahnee Cook and Bronte Schofield, and groom Harrison Boon (pictured)
“So the new cast of MAFS has been announced and I predict there have been major budget cuts to the show,” one woman wrote in a Facebook group this week.
“Not all of their photos have been color corrected and look like they’re frozen,” she added, noting that the photos gave contestants more of a “blue tone” rather than just appearing pale.
The new season of MAFS will see the experts tackle a range of topics including racism, gaslighting and narcissistic behavior.

According to on-set sources, one groom has once been called “worse than Bryce,” while another groom accuses each other of “gaslighting” and playing mind games.
“Gaslighting is brought up again, but other things about how people treat each other in relationships, which for us – we think we’ve seen it all – is shocking…” the MAFS boss said , Tara McWilliams, to Variety last week.
“If we’re still shocked, then you know the content is pretty cheeky,” she continued.
“We still have scandals, but scandals that you haven’t seen. And that’s what I love about it, the reality that the gods have really smiled on us.
