With the stroke of a pen, we’re one step closer to One Person’s rule in New Jersey, with Governor Murphy signing his 12th consecutive executive order declaring a state of emergency. No voice for you through your elected representatives, the state assembly and senate, either party. No debate on whether we should proceed with this soul crushing, spirit exhaustion, depression, authoritarian rule of government, and economy-killing bans. New Jersey remains the state with the highest percentage of COVID-19 deaths, mainly due to the Murphy’s early decision to place coronavirus patients in long-term care facilities.
Last March, governors received advice that the virus would overwhelm hospitals in just five days. That’s according to Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. Some governors like Murphy and Cuomo panicked and made a calculated judgment and they lost. They lost their lives, many of whom were elderly residents in long-term care facilities. Perhaps in a defensive move to move out of the top two spots on the fatality percentage list, Murphy and Cuomo continued to maintain total control. It didn’t work, but it continues. Why? Because the citizens of this state, either ignorant of how things work or too weak and afraid to speak out, have let go.
These restrictions on schools, businesses, social and religious gatherings did more damage in the short and long term than the virus they sought to control. It went on 11 months too long and must end now. With business on the decline, Murphy still has an iron grip on your freedom and rights. There doesn’t seem to be any promise of an end in sight.
In the first month, little was known about the virus, and the terrible predictions of flawed models by “scientists” and “health experts” were vastly exaggerated. It was obvious from the start, but those in power did not want to give up their unprecedented and never anticipated power so soon. Shame on all of us for not having raised our voices enough to make it wrong. Shame on all of us for lacking the courage and autonomy to face this adversity without letting the government take away even our most basic rights.
Call your state representative and ask them why they are allowing this tyranny to continue. You deserve an answer. The threat of this virus is not worth the cost of what they are doing to us. Other states that have opened have done much better when it comes to the percentage of deaths from COVID. Let your representatives know that this is wrong and that they do not deserve your vote in the next election if they do not show that they are trying to do something about it. If not for yourself, but for the thousands of deaths over the years to protect those rights they have so cavalierly taken away and for your children and grandchildren who deserve the preservation of our form of government and of our way of life.
