How Apple’s new starlight and midnight colors compare to classic silver and space gray – 9to5Mac

With the new products introduced on Tuesday, Apple has removed silver and space gray / black for some devices and replaced them with new starlight and midnight colors. While we haven’t seen the new colors in person yet, it’s clear that they are quite different.

First of all, let’s talk about starlight. Starlight is replacing silver for the Apple Watch Series 7, iPad mini, and iPhone 13. It’s more of a champagne color than a shade of silver. It’s much warmer than the natural silver tone that Apple usually uses. Apple has also introduced Starlight accessories that replace the white classics.

The starlight sports band and solo curls are creamier than white. They look a lot like the antique white sports band introduced by Apple in 2015. The same color difference is apparent on the iPhone 13 compared to the iPhone 12. The back glass is slightly warmer than the white on the iPhone 12 .

Midnight is Apple’s new space gray-like color. As a starlight, it is available on the Apple Watch Series 7 and iPhone 13. Apple has chosen to continue to offer the iPad mini in space gray for its dark color. Apple also offers several midnight accessories, like a sports band and a solo loop.

The midnight aluminum finish appears to be a shade of dark blue. It’s certainly not black or space gray. The midnight sport band that complements the Apple Watch Series 7 midnight aluminum case is clearly blue when side by side with the black sport band.

The midnight iPhone 13 looks more like the black iPhone 12 than the starlight model in white. You can clearly see the slight blue tones in the rear glass and aluminum rails.

Long story short, Starlight and Midnight are quite different compared to the White / Silver and Space Gray / Black finishes of previous devices. If you regularly get money, you should probably see the starlight in person before you make a decision. If you regularly get black or space gray devices, you should probably see midnight in person as well.

Apple is likely to bring starlight and midnight to more product lines over the next year. We imagined what a starry, midnight MacBook Air would look like next to the current silver model. Apple is expected to release a new MacBook Pro later this year, and it’s quite possible that the new models will be available in starlight and midnight rather than silver and space gray.
