Houlihan Lokey (NYSE: HLI), the global investment bank, today announced the launch of its coverage of the European oil and gas sector with the hiring of an experienced and market-leading team from BMO Capital Markets . Jeremy Low, formerly Co-Head of Investment Banking and Head of Energy EMEA at BMO Capital Markets, joins the company as Managing Director and Head of the European Oil and Gas Sector. Mr. Low and the team are based in London. With this addition, Houlihan Lokey’s oil and gas group now has over 70 dedicated professionals advising clients around the world on mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance, capital raising and recapitalization assignments.

Jeremy low joins over 26 years of experience in the energy industry, having started his career with Royal Dutch Shell in 1995. Prior to joining BMO in 2016, he spent seven years with the team in the oil and gas sector at RBC, before spending four years with Deutsche Bank’s Oil and Gas team and five years covering oil and gas with Lehman Brothers. He started his career in investment banking at Dresdner Kleinwort Benson in 1997 after working for Shell International as Commercial Director. Mr. Low holds a BA (Honors) in Classics from Durham University.
Tom hughes, Director, spent four years as a senior member of BMO Capital Markets’ Energy Investment Banking team in EMEA, after six years with RBC Capital Markets previously covering Resources natural resources and oil and gas. He holds an MSc and BA (Hons) in Accounting and Finance from the University of Exeter.
Thomas wheeler, Vice President, also spent four years at BMO, after joining Ophir Energy in 2017, where he spent three years as a business analyst for Global New Ventures in London and seconded to Africa. He holds an MA in Management from University College London and a BA (Honors) in History and Politics from the University of Sheffield.
Raffaello avakov, Partner, joined the BMO team in 2018, after spending a year as a M&A advisory analyst at ING Bank. He holds a BSc (Hons) in Economics from University College London.
Over the past six years, the company has grown its European corporate finance activities through a series of strategic acquisitions and hires.
