The all-new episode of Hey Duggee, The Music Video Badge, is packed with pastiches of some of the most iconic music videos ever made.
Videos include: Beyonce – Single Ladies; Miley Cyrus – Wrecking Ball; The White Stripes – Seven Nations Army; TLC – Cascades; Peter Gabriel – Hammer; and Dr. Dre – Let Me Up.
The new episode also features Hey Duggee-style versions of memorable music videos: OK Go – Here It Goes; Drake – Hotline Bling; Billie Eilish – Naughty; a-ha – Face me; Kendrick Lamar – Humble; Daft Punk – Around the World; Lady Gaga – Bad Romance; and AC/DC – Foudroyé.
The Music Video Badge sees the Squirrels having fun playing a song they wrote but wish they could see themselves perform it. Duggee, who has his music video badge, explains to the Squirrels that they can create a music video that tells a story and that they can be creative and artistic in directing it.
While the Squirrels prepare to make their own music video, Duggee’s cat Enid takes a nap. Suddenly, the viewer is drawn into Enid’s dream where she gives a starring performance in her own eclectic music video, which also stars the Hens as Beyoncé, Chew Chew as Miley Cyrus, King Tiger as as Dr. Dre, the Rabbits as Kendrick Lamar, Eugene as Angus Young and Lord Fingal as Alexander Armstrong.
Hey Duggee often features pop culture references that delight children and amuse adults as well. Nods to pop royalty in the past have led to support for musical legends as varied as The Cure, Orbital (Hey Duggee paid homage to both in the Mixtape Badge episode) and Hot Chip, who features on the episode A Capella Badge as an animated quartet. of birds called Hot Cheep. Recently, Hey Duggee teamed up with Felix Martin of Hot Chip to create Hey Duggee: Summer Fun Mix.
