Jorge Masvidal and Colby Covington appear destined to meet in the Octagon in the near future.
Both men want a shot at welterweight champion Kamaru Usman and it seems the only way to get the Nigerian back when he’s fit and ready is to face each other.
Once upon a time, Covington said the couple would never face each other unless there was a belt on the line. He called them Batman and Robin.
They were close friends when they trained together at American Top Team. There are plenty of photos on social media to prove it.
In fact, Masvidal said Covington had lived on his couch for a while and a video emerged from an advertisement the couple had done together years ago.
It’s unclear exactly when this happened – although Masvidal’s haircut suggests it around 2015 – but what is clear is that they are promoting diamond cuts, which helps fighters. to protect their groin area.

Now we are far from that kind of friendship. Many believe that Covington sold his soul in an attempt to make money and become famous. Many believe he is dividing on purpose, Masvidal included.
But Covington says the reason they fell out was because Masvidal had grown jealous of his success.
“He’s the kind of guy who when you do something for him will use you,” Covington told Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show. “As long as you do better than him and don’t help him anymore, then he doesn’t care about you.”
“And that is exactly what happened because when he was beaten by Demian Maia and I went there and destroyed him (Maia) in his home country, it is at this point our relationship started to change.
“He started to act differently towards me as a competitor. Now I make more money than him, fuck girls sexier than him and get better in life than him. He’s just a jealous little bastard.
Masvidal has a different take on what happened. Gamebred says Chaos didn’t pay his trainer at ATT what he owed him after Maia’s fight, and he hasn’t spoken to her since.
“He ripped off my trainer, it was his trainer. We were with him until his [interim] fight for the title. After winning the title, he owed her a certain amount of money, didn’t pay her, ”Masvidal told the Dan LeBatard Show in September 2019.
“I said if you don’t pay it I’m going to fuck you.” My trainer got in between, since I haven’t spoken to the guy.
“That’s what it is. All of those words have consequences because this guy was sleeping on my couch, devouring me because I was the one with the sponsors. He was still relatively amateur and I was helping this guy.
“It hurts that he does this in a way that’s just like a like on Facebook, just a retweet on Twitter, he does it, for you and I to talk about him.”
“He’s crazy because people don’t care to see him fight,” he continued. “They want to see him lose. That’s what they agree on.
