APPLE VALLEY, Calif. (VVNG.com) – A high-speed Apple Valley chase ended when the suspect crashed his motorcycle.
This happened on May 15, 2021, at around 1:38 p.m., when Deputy Cullum attempted to stop a motorcycle on Bear Valley Road when the driver made a left turn onto Deep Creek on a solid red arrow.
Sheriff’s spokeswoman Jackie Alban said the driver did not give in and an 8 km chase ensued.
During the chase, the driver, later identified as Christopher Komnenus, a 50-year-old Boron resident, hit speeds of 120 mph and drove in oncoming traffic.
“The chase ended when Komnenus collided with a sidewalk and a vehicle,” Alban said. “Komnenus was in possession of methamphetamine and had a felony warrant outside Kern County.
The suspect was injured and airlifted to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center. Alban said an update on his condition was not available.
