Boxing fans have had to wait a long time for the Floyd Mayweather Jr vs. Manny Pacquiao fight and it looks like they’ll have to wait even longer if they hope for a rematch.

In 2015, Mayweather Jr and Pacquiao finally faced off after years of fans calling for a fight, although at the time they were both in their thirties and neither man was in his prime.

In the end, the fight didn’t live up to expectations, as it never really caught fire, with Mayweather Jr earning a twelve-round unanimous decision victory.

Both men have since retired from professional boxing, but being two of the biggest names in the sport’s history, they are inevitably regularly asked about a return to the ring or even a possible rematch.

Recently, however, Pacquiao was quick to put an end to any lingering fan hopes of a rematch, as when asked to fight Mayweather Jr again, he said, “I don’t think that will happen because that he’s afraid to face me in the ring again.

” He is afraid. From the start he felt intimidated [by] me and afraid to face me.

“It may be possible for an exhibition, but I don’t know yet.”

Mayweather Jr himself has always told the media that he would never return to the ring in a professional fight again, only in exhibitions against opponents who cannot realistically hurt him.

Mayweather Jr will face Deji in an exhibition fight next

Since retiring, Mayweather Jr has had exhibition fights with social media star, Logan Paul, a couple of Japanese MMA fighters and a former sparring partner.

On November 13, he will engage in his fifth exhibition fight against Deji, the younger brother of YouTuber turned boxer, KSI, in Dubai.

Deji has previously only had four fights, compared to Mayweather Jr’s 50 professional outings, and he’s lost three and won just one.

It doesn’t look like either man will take the fight too seriously, as they met for the first time earlier this week and they were laughing and kissing, as Deji told FightHype. “I mean, what can I say? It’s surreal.

“I never thought this would happen. I don’t know what’s going on, it’s amazing. I’m just here to have fun, realistically…Obviously I’m going to be competitive, but I’m here to enjoy myself.
