When working from home, you need to keep your work environment for conference calls with your boss and colleagues at important meetings; however, teams can help spice up the work of family life.
You can use GIFS and memes when chatting with teams, but there is also Snapchat Camera. Here’s a guide on how you can use the Snapchat camera to add fun filters to your Teams calls and give your colleagues good old laughs (via Stephanie Stimac / Twitter.)
Step 1: Download the Snapchat camera
To get started, we’ll just give you a friendly reminder: Snapchat Camera is not intended to be used during important meetings. It’s more of a way for you to spice up private conversations with your colleagues in Teams. After all, you don’t want to be fired!
Either way, the first step in this process is to log in and download Snapchat Camera. The Snapchat camera is different from Snapchat on iOS and Android and is a separate application available on MacOS and Windows 10. It will work on almost any modern computer with a webcam. Once downloaded and configured, you can use the application as an input method during your video conference call and select a filter for your face or background. Downloading is easy and just follow the steps in the setup prompts.
Step 2: Launch Snapchat Camera
Once installed, you will need to launch the Snapchat camera and operate it in the background. During the first launch, you will get a guide on how it works. It’s simple, a bit like the Snapchat app on iOS and Android.
At the top you will see the recommended filters, which are among the most popular filters used at the time. There are also different categories such as “Cute” “Funny” “Games” “Character” “WFH” and more. You can play with them as you see fit, and even transfer them to the Snapchat app on your phone by scanning the code that appears next to your image. Once you’ve found the filter you want to use, click on it and close the window to minimize the Snapchat camera.
Step 3: Head to the Microsoft Teams
Finally, once you have chosen your preferred Snapchat filter, you can return to Microsoft Teams. You will want to start your video call with your colleague. On the page where you choose your audio and video settings, you will want to click Custom configuration then click on check under the Camera section, choose Snap Camera. You can then preview the filter and then join your call as usual, with the filter overlaid on your face throughout.
If that doesn’t work, you can try joining the call as usual, with the default settings. Then once in your call. hover over the lower central part of the screen with your mouse, and those . . . more actions. You will then want to select View device settings and look for the Camera section. Be sure to choose Snap Camera then close the Device Settings window with the X at the top. You should see your filter overlaid on your face now.
Enjoy!
Snap Camera is a great way to have fun, because filters can sometimes be completely stupid. However, it can also be used outside of teams. If you’re a gamer, you can use Snap Camera when streaming on Mixer or Twitch and change the lens when playing different games. And, if you’re the artistic type, you can also create lenses with the Snapchat Lens Studio app. The possibilities are endless, so share your thoughts with us in the comments below.
