Helena Bonham Carter has admitted that she and her young boyfriend Rye Dag Holmboe regularly joke about the huge age gap in their relationship.
The 56-year-old actress – who started dating the 35-year-old art historian in 2018 – insisted her love was an ‘old soul in a young body’ and an ‘ageless man’ “.
She told The Times: “There are people I’ve been involved with who aren’t necessarily their age, their maturity, whereas [Rye] is ageless.’

The Enola Holmes star hilariously added of her toyboy: “His eyesight is going down so we say I’m siphoning off his youth at night.”
Cher was recently forced to defend her relationship with boyfriend Alexander Edwards, who is 40 years younger than her.
And while discussing the subject, Helena said, “It’s good for men to appreciate different types of beauty and find other things sexy.

The Crown star has been in a relationship with the academic for four years after splitting from director Tim Burton in 2014.
It comes after she told Richard Eden of the Daily Mail that she felt “very lucky” to have met Rye.
Helena and her former longtime partner, director Tim Burton, 63, have lived in adjoining houses during their 13-year relationship, with each property decorated to their own personal tastes and styles.

However, Richard Eden of the Daily Mail reported last year that she had decided to share a home with her college boyfriend, even adding to their domestic bliss by adopting house rabbits.
The couple met at a wedding in 2018, after Helena split from Tim in 2014.
Explaining how they met, she told the Guardian: “A totally random thing, which we both weren’t almost going to, so it was one of those moments that was so serendipitous and ended up so determined.” A truly happy accident, and that’s an incredible thing.
Addressing the couple’s 22-year age gap, the actress previously said in an interview with The Times:
“Everyone ages at a different rate. My boyfriend is incredibly mature. She’s an old soul in a young body, what more could you ask for?
“People are a bit scared of older women, but that’s not the case. Women can be very powerful when they are older.
She shares children Billy, 18, and Nell, 14, with her Hollywood director and writer ex-husband Tim.
