Arsenal and Chelsea are interested in the Ecuadorian
He wrote on social media that he wanted to “take this wonderful opportunity” to join one of the Premier League’s top clubs, with the January transfer window due to close on Tuesday.
It’s an interesting development in this particular transfer story, with Caicedo clearly wanting to leave for new pastures.
However, talkSPORT understands Brighton have told all interested clubs that Caicedo is categorically NOT for sale this window.
talkSPORT host Adam Catterall compared it to the famous Odemwingie saga in 2013, when he traveled to Queens Park Rangers in an attempt to leave West Brom after criticizing the club on Twitter.
“This man went full Peter Odemwingie on this,” Catterall told the Sports Bar.
“As far as I know, he’s still a Brighton and Hove Albion player. He’s not going anywhere at the moment, but he’s not.

The 21-year-old has been at Brighton since 2021
“He’s on his social media right now, he posted the post on Instagram, he’s made it official ladies and gentlemen.”
Alongside him was former West Ham striker Carlton Cole, who added: “He wrote an essay!”
Caicedo’s statement was released shortly after Manchester City’s 1-0 FA Cup win over Arsenal, a game where Gunners midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga struggled.
“Do you know what he did? Cole mused. “He saw that stink of Lokonga and he thinks, ‘Nah, I’m the guy, let’s go, it’s fight time! “”
Caicedo’s Premier League stats are impressive
Despite Caicedo’s willingness to leave, talkSPORT understands Brighton will not be forced into a sale this month.
Arsenal and Chelsea both had their respective offers of £60m and £55m rejected.
The 21-year-old has also been granted time off until the window closes, and the Seagulls expect him to be on their team for the rest of the season.
