Paramore joined Zane Lowe for an interview on Apple Music 1 this week, where the band discussed their return to music with their new album That is why.
Singer Hayley Williams has revealed that one of the songs on the record, “Running Out of Time”, was actually inspired by none other than Taylor Swift. “I remember when we were 19 and I was closer to Taylor Swift then because we both lived in Nashville, and we were both experiencing our own versions of real success for the first time” , she recalls. “I went hanging out. She’s a very good cook, by the way. She is a very good cook. She taught me to do things that I didn’t remember at all.
Williams went on to recall that Swift had a “little closet” where she kept gifts she could send people as a thank you, birthday or holiday. “I was like, ‘Oh my God, my life is so not together,'” she shared. “I was like, ‘I can barely remember sending anyone a card or flowers.’ There’s still Christmas presents at my house that I haven’t sent to my friends just sitting there in the back of my closet. Two of the people I was supposed to give a present to, I was like, ‘Sorry, I forgot to put [the gifts] in my suitcase so you still don’t have a present. I wish I was the person who felt like I had all my s — together and I was like, ‘Oh, I’ve had a little more time, so I’m just passing on with flowers.’ This kind of thing is my idealized self.
In January, Paramore appeared on Billboardthe digital cover of , where the trio discussed their comeback as a group. “At this point, I don’t understand how we continue to do that,” Williams explained. “Because it’s like against all odds every time – which honestly I feel like we’re the most boring band in the world because it’s always like, ‘Oh, we got over that , and now we’re making this album.’”
