It looks like Hasim Rahman Jr doesn’t want to give up on his lucrative fight with Jake Paul, as he weighed in on Friday despite the contest being cancelled.
Paul was originally scheduled to fight Aug. 6 at Madison Square Garden against Tommy Fury, brother of heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, but the fight fell through after the Briton was denied entry into the United States.
That’s when Rahman Jr, the son of former heavyweight champion Hasim Rahman who knocked out Lennox Lewis, stepped in as a late replacement.
The fight was agreed at 200lbs but earlier this week it was called off after it became clear to Paul’s team that Rahman Jr would not be able to make the weight even if they had moved the limit to 205 pounds.
This sparked a war of words on Twitter, with both sides making various accusations and threatening to “expose” each other, but either way the fight was over.
That being said, Rahman Jr decided to weigh in anyway last night, registering 206.6lbs, either to try to lure Paul into the ring or just to avoid tarnishing his reputation as someone who hasn’t even tried to to gain weight.

In fairness, it looks like if he could have gotten down to 206.6lbs the day before the fight, the agreed limit of 205lbs wouldn’t have been out of reach and the fight could have continued.
However, there is no denying that he missed the original and renegotiated limits.
Proving he could lose weight wasn’t enough for Rahman Jr at this point, as he also wanted to entice Paul a bit more, by posting a clip from their previous workout.
In the clip, Paul can be seen running around the ring away from Rahman Jr, as he looks to unload a big right hand.
Rahman Jr posted the video with the caption, “Never in the history of boxing has anyone fought a week out for weight issues. I tried to tell you all, ” he’s a runner, he’s a star of the track”.

As for what’s next for Paul, we’ll no doubt see him back in the ring soon, but he may not be fighting any “real boxers”, as he posted on Twitter after Rahman Jr.’s fight was canceled. .
“First Tommy Fumbled and now Hasim Rahman Crumbled,” Paul said. “These boxers are the hardest people to work with and continually lack the professionalism and confidence to fight me.
“I apologize to all the other fighters on the card, our partners, our team and the fans.”
As for other opponents, Paul recently expressed interest in returning to crossover fights with MMA fighters, naming Nate Diaz, Conor McGregor and Anderson Silva as potential options.
