Harvey Weinstein’s lawyer said the former film producer was taken to hospital after being transferred to a New York prison.
It comes days after the movie mogul’s 2020 rape conviction was overturned, with a New York court ordering a new trial in the landmark ‘MeToo’ case.
Arthur Aidala, Weinstein’s lawyer, said his client was transferred to Manhattan’s Bellevue Hospital for testing after arriving in the city’s prison system on Friday.
“They examined him and sent him to Bellevue. It looks like he needs a lot of help, physically. He’s having a lot of problems. He’s going through all kinds of tests. He’s kind of an accident. train in terms of health,” Mr. Aidala said.
The hospital did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Messages seeking a response were also left at city and state corrections offices.
