Harry Redknapp reiterated his belief that Tottenham are ‘very capable’ of winning the Premier League this season.
The former Spurs boss was impressed with the way Jose Mourinho’s side started the 2020/21 campaign, with Monday night’s 1-0 win at Burnley leaving them just two points behind leaders Everton .
“I look at this team and it’s a very strong team. He has internationals covering all positions, ”Redknapp said on talkSPORT Breakfast.
“It’s a team that I think are very capable of fighting for the title. I would still make Liverpool and Man City the favorites, but I think Tottenham has every chance.
“It’s wide open this year. It’s so tight. I watched Liverpool vs Sheffield United this weekend and it could have gone either way.
“Sheffield United were pushing for an equalizer and were very unlucky not to get one. Tottenham look very strong at the moment.
Meanwhile, Redknapp warned Dele Alli he needs to be ‘careful’ or risk seeing his career run out of steam altogether.
Mourinho’s latest snub to Alli saw the playmaker omitted all together from the team that made it to Turf Moor.
“I am a big fan of Alli. He’s a great talent so it’s sad to see [what is happening]Redknapp said.
“He has to be careful. Maybe it’s a bit of a crossroads [in his career] at the moment. Who knows what’s going on behind closed doors.
“Jose sees him every day and obviously there is something he doesn’t like and that’s why he didn’t choose him and kick him out of the squad.
“Dele Alli has to get back to the player we know he can be. He has to put his head down and concentrate on his football.
“When he plays well, he’s a fantastic player.”
