Harry Kane has revealed Jude Bellingham’s attempt to discourage him before his Champions League semi-final penalty had no effect.

Bellingham was seen trying to say something to the Bayern Munich striker before hitting the penalty.

It was at a key moment in the match with Bayern and Real Madrid locked at 1-1, with Vinicius Jr’s opener canceled out by Leroy Sane.

Kane made it 2-1 despite his England teammate’s attempts to discourage him.

Speaking after the match, Kane said: “To be honest, I don’t know what he was saying. He was mumbling… I would have to ask him what he said.

“Once I’m in that moment, I’m in that zone and I block everything out but I’m sure he was saying something to try to put me off! Luckily I was okay with that.”

Vinicius Jr then added a second, from the penalty spot, to see the match finish 2-2 and take it to the Bernabeu ahead of the second leg on May 4.

For Kane, however, it was his 43rd goal of the season in just his 43rd game for Bayern.

Reflecting on his first campaign after joining Tottenham, he said: “Yeah, it’s been a good season so far. Like I said, it’s pretty much the next game week at the away against Real Madrid.

“Everything we are fighting for this year is in this competition. It will be difficult, but we have to go into it with confidence.”

The 30-year-old is yet to win a trophy in his career but insisted his first season at Bayern would not be defined by silverware.

He added: “I’ve been here for many years. It’s not just a one-off year that I came for. The expectation at the start of the year was to win trophies.

“It didn’t go the way we wanted in the Bundesliga or the Cup, but the Champions League is the biggest of them all.

“If we can get our hands on it, it would be an incredible season.
