Harry Kane has revealed he criticized Jamal Musiala over his international choices ahead of Euro 2024.

The two stars share a locker room at Bayern Munich and are arguably the most important players in their respective countries.

Gareth Southgate will rely heavily on Kane at Euro 2024, while Musiala has been named as Germany’s poster boy.

And the former Tottenham star admitted he teased his teammate about his international allegiances, considering Musiala could have played for England after attending Chelsea’s academy.

He told ITV: “I made a few jokes at him for choosing Germany over England, he obviously could have played for England.

“Maybe if I had been here a few years earlier, I could have put my arm around his shoulder and had him to ourselves.”

England could face Germany in the round of 16 at Euro 2024 if they finish second in their group and all other results go in the direction of those at the top world rankings.

The tournament is hosted by the Germans, who have suffered a dismal comeback in recent years after failing to qualify from the group stage at the last two World Cups.

But Kane admitted he is keen to meet Musiala this summer, as well as many other Bayern team-mates who play for Germany.

He added: “Jamal is great, obviously you have all the German internationals here and there hasn’t been any banter yet, maybe that will be the case in the next few weeks.

“But yeah, it will be interesting. Obviously every time you play against people you know it’s a different feeling.

“If we play Germany this summer, I’m sure it will be an interesting match.”

Harry Kane ignores the chattering spirit of his England teammate Jude Bellingham before scoring an important penalty for Bayern Munich against Real Madrid in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final first leg.

Kane comes into the tournament in fine form, although his search for a trophy continues, with Bayern losing the Bundesliga title to Bayer Leverkusen.

The Champions League remains up for grabs, with Bayern facing Real Madrid at the Bernabeu on Wednesday after a 2-2 draw last week in the first leg of their semi-final.

He has scored 44 goals in as many matches, including 36 in 32 Bundesliga matches.

The secret to his success, apparently, is coffee.

Manager Thomas Tuchel said: “Yes, how many cappuccinos he drinks during the day. I was very surprised.

“Every time I go to the kitchen, he’s there. I’ve started doing it myself now. Look at him, he looks healthy and in good shape.”
