And Conte congratulated the player on the phone after the game
“It’s a really surreal feeling right now,” Kane said after the game. “To do it here in front of the home fans, to win the game, everything went well tonight.
“I’m sure I’ll figure it all out. My wife and family and friends were here so it’s a really proud moment, but it’s definitely nicer to get the three points and that was the thing. more important today.
Conte was absent from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as he recovers from surgery to remove his gallbladder earlier in the week.
But he was able to send his best wishes to Kane, the Italian heard ‘you make me proud’ of his striker during a phone conversation as the 29-year-old sat in the dressing room.
Kane’s winner was also his 200th in the Premier League and he will now be watching Alan Shearer’s record of 260 in the competition.
And Conte’s assistant Cristian Stellini has no doubts about Kane’s iconic status.
“Harry Kane, in his DNA he has football,” Stellini said. “He understands football at all times. He can play in any position. He is a GOAT in this league, in this sport. He is a great example.
It was a tough game for Kane’s counterpart Erling Haaland, who failed to draw in a Premier League game for the first time at Man City. The Norwegian also failed to get a single touch in the Tottenham box.
And talkSPORT’s Darren Ambrose believes Kane offers more in his all-around game than the City man, but suggested the 22-year-old could find the net more times in his career.
“Harry Kane is a better footballer,” Ambrose said on The Boot Room. “Who will end up scoring the most goals? Probably Erling Haaland based on how long he played, how long his career has been.

Kane, who also received congratulations from Greaves’ son Danny after the game, is the hero of the hour at Spurs.

Haaland really struggled at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, though
Ambrose added: “He’s an outstanding goalscorer – he scores different types of goals where he can use his power.
“But a lot of his goals come between the six yards and the penalty area, where he always reads the situation.
“He reads the rebound, the knockdown, he’s a great finisher. Harry Kane is a different king of the centre-forward.
“He will fall deep, he will have more assists than Erling Haaland, he is a better player than Erling Haaland.
“Haaland, I can’t even say he’s a top scorer yet, but depending on the longevity of his career, he could end up with more goals than Harry Kane.”
