But soon enough, the itching to fight increased. But it didn’t come out of the blue. Cifers watched the first UFC cards with her parents when she was younger, gravitating toward Royce Gracie due to her ability to defeat much larger opponents.
“I just thought it would be fun to fight,” said Cifers. “At the time, I never thought I would be in the UFC the way I am now.”
This insurmountable thought is his life now, and on the positive side, it has allowed him to meet his MMA heroes, including Junior Dos Santos, whose nickname “Cigano” is the inspiration for his dog’s name.
In the end, however, Cifers is very happy to have another chance to show how it has improved since it made its first foray into the Octagon in November 2018. The coronavirus pandemic has not affected his training regimen too much, nor did it really change everyday life.
That said, the UFC Apex is definitely an upgrade to a parking lot in North Carolina.
“I feel pretty good,” said Cifers. “I feel like I’m doing a lot of work.”
