She shared her condolences to the family of the cinematographer who was accidentally shot dead by her uncle Alec Baldwin earlier today.
But Hailey Bieber appeared to be trying not to think about the tragedy as she and her husband Justin Bieber stepped out Friday night to watch the Los Angeles Lakers play against the Phoenix Suns at Staples Center in Los Angeles.
The 24-year-old model and 27-year-old pop superstar were joined in their backyard seats by Hailey’s good friend Kendall Jenner, 25.
Hailey opted to dress for the basketball game, although she still added some chic touches to her ensemble.
She looked comfy in a voluminous green hoodie with a white pumpkin-lantern face on the front.
She added a chic touch with leather pants, but paired with her understated green and white Nike shirt and a quilted crescent-shaped handbag.
She completed her look by styling her long dirty blonde braids and letting them cascade delicately over the shoulders.
Justin was dressed more casually in a thick black puffer jacket over a modest white T-shirt.
He also wore a pair of loose acid wash jeans with gray, black and white sneakers, and his pink ski cap added a pop of color to the understated look.
Hailey and her sweetheart wore black masks to slow the spread of the new coronavirus as they made their way to the arena, although they were less consistent about wearing the mask inside.
The lovebirds shared their prime seats with Hailey’s longtime girlfriend Kendall Jenner, who contrasted her friend’s green outfit with a sleek all-black look.
She stayed warm in a black leather jacket over a white top, and she complemented it with slim black jeans highlighting her long legs.
The Keeping Up With the Kardashians star wore her raven braids parted in the middle and sported tan suede heels.
Kendall’s friend Taco (born Travis Bennett), a member of Odd Future and regular contributor to Tyler the Creator, joined the gang.
He wore a white hoodie with plaid pants and a Lakers baseball cap.
During the match, Kendall shared a photo of herself and Hailey’s dazzled mugs, which advertised her brand of tequila 818.
Rapper Saweetie, who has also watched the Lakers and Suns, was bundled up in a black patchwork jacket over a black hoodie and black jeans.
She wore a long crimson wig under a black baseball cap and wore intriguing split-toe Tabi boots while carrying a black purse.
Hours before the game, Hailey wrote on Instagram that she was “heartbroken for everyone involved” after her uncle Alec Baldwin accidentally shot two people on the set of her movie Western Rust in New Mexico.
Baldwin fired with a propeller pistol that was supposed to be unloaded, but when he pulled the trigger he shot director of photography Halyna Hutchins and director Joel Souza.
Although the weapon has been described as having a “live” cartridge, this does not necessarily indicate that it was loaded with a bullet, as other forms of debris in the weapon could have been fired from it.
Hutchins was airlifted to the University of New Mexico hospital in Albuquerque and was later pronounced dead, while Souza was rushed to a nearby hospital and has since been released.
“I send all my love to the family of Halyna Hutchins,” Hailey wrote in her Insta Stories, adding, “This is a truly unimaginable and devastating tragedy.”
She continued, “My thoughts are also with Joel Souza as he recovers. I am absolutely sorry for everyone involved.
Hailey’s father and Alec Baldwin’s brother Stephen Baldwin did not mention any names but asked for prayers in his own Instagram post.
“Asking your prayers tonight, my friends, there is not much that can be said except please pray for everyone involved in this tragic accident that you,” he wrote, adding, “# Psaume91” in its caption.
Hailey’s cousin Ireland Baldwin, who is Alec’s daughter, wrote: “My love and support goes to Halnya [sic] Hutchins family and friends.
“Send healing thoughts to Joel Souza,” she added. “And I wish I could have hugged my dad really tight today.”
