Hafthor Bjornsson’s transformation from strongman to boxer has been quite remarkable – and he showed the results in his latest Instagram post.
The strongest man in the world 2018 lost over 55 kg by completely changing his diet and training routine.
All in a bid to settle his bitter rivalry with fellow World’s Strongest Man winner Eddie Hall, who has been rumbling for several years.
They were scheduled to face each other this weekend, but that fight was postponed after Hall suffered a detached bicep in training several weeks ago.
Thor hasn’t given up on his workout routine, however, and is set to step into the ring on Saturday night in Dubai.
Instead, he’ll face arm wrestling star Devon Larratt in six, three-minute rounds.
And the Icelandic athlete looks like a serious boxer, judging by his latest Instagram post where he looks torn.
His weight dropped from around 205 kg at his peak as a strongman to around 150 kg.
Speaking to talkSPORT.com this week, Thor, an ambassador for Reign Total Body Fuel, said, “I’m always up for a challenge, always up for it. It doesn’t matter who I fight.
“Every time I’ve been in the ring it’s been a great experience for me. I’m new to boxing, I’ve been doing this for a year and a half.
“Every time I step in the ring, I learn.”
Thor has a good relationship with Larratt, but will put that aside when the two face off in the ring on Saturday.
He added: “It’s kinda weird, because I like the guy. It’s weird to fight someone you love, it’s better when you don’t love someone.
“We both treat him professionally, we both keep our distance until after the fight.
“I wave at him and that’s about it.” Just to make it more professional. At the end of the day, it’s a fight and I’m going there to hit it.
“After the fight, it’s going to be cool.”
