The Witcher card game, Gwent, arrives on Android devices as soon as the closed beta version has been announced. Registrations are in progress and the device requirements do not seem too high for modern standards.
The closed beta version of Gwent will start on Tuesday March 10, 2020, less than a week before the announcement and the writing of this article. Registrations are already open and CD Projekt Red has declared that they will work on a first come, first served basis so if you are interested you may want to access the registration page
As soon as possible.
All modes and features of the full version of Gwent will be available to all beta participants. In addition, the progress made will be posted to the GOG account, so when the full version of Android arrives, all the goodies won will be at your disposal.
If the PC and iOS versions of Gwent are linked to the same account, the progression will also continue there. It also works the other way around, so if you already have an account with progress, it will be available on Android.
While Gwent looks pretty good on its own, it won’t require a monster smartphone to operate. At the time of the announcement, the CDPR said that all Android devices running Nougat OS (Android 7.0) or newer should be able to run Gwent, unless their hardware is weaker than expected for some reason.
They also gave indications on what will be needed on this front. Android devices will need 2 GB of RAM or more and use OpenGL ES 3.2 or higher to run the game smoothly.
CD Projekt Red reiterated that its team is working hard to optimize the game for more Android devices, but there is currently no official confirmation on whether others will become viable.
